2009 has dawned

We spent the new years evening of 2008 with Lara and Peter on Clifton 4th Beach with candle light. They'll both be off somewhere in the world in the next week, so it was great catching up with them both. With them both living and working so far from home, we really cherish these moments with them.

SA Pride

My dad and I got up at 02h00 along with a couple of other Cricket fanatics to see SA beat Aus for the 1st time in a test on Aus soil ever. There were so many special moments for the SA team in this performance, coming from behind twice, against all the odds. It was a moment to cherish. We're all proud of the boys.

K-day

This was a scortching day with more than 10 000 people coming to see 12 local bands that included names like Watershed, Parlotones, Johny Clegg, Freshly Ground and many more amazing artists. We found a spot on the grass with our friends Ludwigt, Desiree and Sonja and spent a good 9 hours baking in the sun, having pic-nic and experiencing the atmosphere.
Lourensford wine estate makes the most amazing backdrop for a music festival.

Watershed

Great performers, and surely on of the more succesful South African bands on the international stage. There was something very special about their performance, they really matured as a band since their "Indgo Girl" days, but they are still very self focused and loved the attention that was bestowed on them.

Director in a skirt

Brendon took a bet with the Forex department, which is never a great idea, as the picture illustrate!!
I have to note that the month of October was an enormous month for us. We've more than doubled all our previous records, so it was a great month to be taking bets.

Greg Bachelors

I always thought that pink suits Greg......there is of course a rule about sharing what happens at a bachelors, the picture might have already crossed that line.

Greek

Greek is just 5 minutes drive from where we stay. It's known for it's food, and I can vouch that the meal is great...not as romantic as I remembered it, but we definately enjoyed ourselves. I just love spending time with this precious lady.

Caramello

Tommie and Tharina are friends from Varsity who also travelled to London, so we've been staying in touch for years now. They've also just moved down to Cape Town from London and still working for a London based company. The great thing is that they're only 15 minutes drive from us, so we're looking forward to spending a lot more time with this great couple. Caramello's is the little coffee shop where we decided to meet up...it was great to hear what they've been up to.

Yum

We had a pizza making evening with our Home group...needless to say when we had some extra dough left over we decided that it's only right to make a desset pizza. The toppings included carramel, chocolate and marshmallows. It might sound crazy, but it was an enourmous hit. The pie was polished in no time.

Magica Roma

My wife and I make a point of having these little romantic dinners. I thoroughly enjoy her company and love sharing life with her. These evenings is a way for us to connect and share ourselves with each other. This is a lovely little Italian restaurant (Rated top 100 in SA) down the road from us.

Du Toit's Kloof

Catherine and I went hiking with Amy and her dad up to the pools in Du Toit's Kloof. It's only an hour there and an hour back, but it's amazing what a gem this place is, tucked away, so secluded from everything.

Argus

A crazy day....what more can I say?

Carsten's Concert

Catherine packed us a nice pic-nic and we just sat on the grass, chatting and dinning. Amazing weather....what a special place Kirstenbosch is.

Arno Carstens

Deon arranged for Catherine and I, Amy, Elmy and Carla to meet up for a pic-nic at Kirstenbosch, where Arno Carstens was performing an open air performance.

Vergenoegdt

After a weekend at Meerenbosch, my parents treated us for a wonderful lunch at the Pomegrante restuarant on the Vergenoegdt wine estate. I would highly recomend the place. We had a lovely time.

Catherine arranged a wonderful jazz evening for the 4 of us in Somerset West as played by the Riverside jazz band. We had pic-nic and good music.

St. Valentine

We had a red and white theme at work...in honour of st Valentine. I won the raffle, considering I only bought one ticket I really felt for the people who bought 10.

Hand over

Tim treated us all for a very special seafood evening to say goodbye to team 'redundant'. We're going to miss them.

View from office

This is the view from my desk...such a contras to what I've become accustom to over the last 3 years.

Health and Safety

This one is specifically for Ro...you think heath and safety is bad in England?

Scouts Place

This is the little place in Pinelands we're now renting. It's a loft style garden cottage (fancy word), but it's essentially a one bedroom with a large living room. We are loving it and Catherine did a great job in furniture shopping, creating a stylish "Provance" look and feel.
